The Care Center and His Divine Guidance

Before reading I encourage everyone to visit carecenter-okc.org to understand what this group stands for and know they are why I do what I do.

Being a sensitive task we struggled early on in the brand process, some just not being strong enough and others not having the correct mind set. We realized after a good week in we all needed to take a good break from it all. Get our minds off this serious subject of child abuse. It’s a lot to take on and we had to find the right idea for it to work and to help this amazing cause.

One night, while playing games with my kids, my son gave me the biggest roar ever. And it hit me, ROAR! The kids would need courage, and what better symbol of courage than a lion? I sketched out the lion that night.

A week later, after preparing other brand elements, we presented to Stacy and her team. They were eager to see our work, they had a big gala event coming up where they wanted to showcase a new logo/ brand. Mind you I was not present for this part but this is what I was told. Eric one of the owners of ICG, presented the first ideas, then he brings up the lion logo. There were gasps, then tears, and finally applauses.

You see the gala that year was "Courage of a Lion" and they had planned on featuring a children's choir to sing ROAR by Katy Perry. If that's not divine guidance, I don't know what is.

Today, The Care Center has transformed lives and continues to advocate with their mission to help children and families affected by abuse, with the hope of ending child abuse in Oklahoma County.

This began my why. My reason for doing what I do and to this day I always try to find what it means to listen and be moved by what God is telling me. I may not always get it right but I am listening.
